Blending & Beyond Booster Class

I recently took another great class from the amazing Jana Morton.  I have taken two of her classes in the past, and really liked them.  She specializes in blended type layouts and images, which are maybe a bit more artful, and for me don't require much in the form of embellishments.  I love these types of layouts, and have found that most designers include products that lend well to this type of approach.  Probably the greatest thing about a blended layout is that your photo can be less than stellar.  If the focus or exposure or contrast isn't exactly perfect- no worries, you'll never know because of the
different blending modes you use in Photoshop. Of course I still love my PL layouts, and scrapping with the amazing kits by various designers, but I do like this look too.  So many styles, so little time... You can check out Jana at

Merry and Bright.....

is how I feel when I take photos using my 50mm f1/4  prime lens.  This is the one lens I always recommend to people just starting out in photography.  It is not a zoom lens, you zoom with your feet- but at under $500.00 you can get some really beautiful photos, and if you have to shoot in low light and /or  like that blurred background, this is your lens.  Let the holiday shopping begin!  Here are some photos I took recently with the  Canon 50mm f1.4 lens.
More to come soon when I am not having so many computer difficulites ()*^$#@!)&!!

I take a lot of pictures...

especially during the holidays, and sometimes it's hard to figure out which ones to scrap- I want to keep them all!   But that is the beauty of doing a Project Life type of book.  For me, it is a way to use  alot of photos in a page and tell the story with simple journaling and dates. To do this digitally- is simple, quick and stress free- thus allowing for more time to take pictures... Hmmmm.  No wonder I can't quite get caught up.

Halloween photos....

using my amazing Canon 24-70mm f2.8 lens.  This lens is awesome in low light situations.  I also
used a tripod and a remote, which got some geniune smiles out of the boys.  Shot these before the party and trick or treating.  I'll be looking for some awesome products to get these scrapped soon, but wanted to share some photos right away.  Hope your Halloween was safe and good.  Happy DSD to all my digi friends, and special shout out to our friends on the EAst coast- thoughts and prayers are with you.

Project Life... and Soccer

Yes, I feel like my project in life these days is soccer!  It is finally cooling down temperature wise, but those Cobra's are heating things up - big win this week-end 8-0!  The boys were so excited.  I
am still a little behind on my Project Life book, and don't put alot of the pages on my blog for various reasons, but I am very thankful for Becky Higgins and her amazing templates, which can be purcased digitally at Jessica .  They really do make documenting quick and easy.  TFL!

Photography Class with Katrina Kennedy...

I have taken a couple of classes from Katrina Kennedy and she is amazing.  Her website and classes are at  This class - " Your Life Through the Lens" teaches you how to use your camera to it's full advantage, and how to shoot in Manual Mode.  I originally took this class about a year ago, and have been shooting in Manual ever since.  Katrina offered to let all her old students take the class again for free!! Thank you Katrina.  The second time around is so much better.  Shooting in Manual Mode takes effort, and practice, practice, practice.  We work on everything - focus, apeture, shutter speed, ISO - and how they all work together- or not!  Also lots of great info on composition, lighting, posing people and groups.  She shoots with a Canon also, but has info on every type of DSLR out there.  If your ever wanting to learn to do more with your camera, I would highly reccomend taking an online class with Katrina.  Here are just a few shots that I have taken lately - some for assignments, and some just for fun.  TFL!

Yoga photo shoot with Jen~ she couldn't look bad in a picture if she tried!...

My Pumpkin obsession.... Working on bluring the background....

And some beautiful people, and red rocks....

October Layouts and good soccer stuff coming soon!  TFL!

More from.....

a variety of designers.  Here are a few layouts I've created using some basics from Jessica Sprague, but also quite a few materials from DHD and O'Scraps.  Sometimes it's fun to see what the other
designers have to offer, and often they mix really well with materials I already have.  You can check my gallery at Jessica Sprague or Creating Keepsakes for full credits.  TFL!

This month I am creating for designer....

Lori Whitlock.  She has some amazing digi goodies at Jessica  This month it seems like all the designers came out with "back to school / Fall" kits.  There are just so many awesome products to choose from- seriously, I'm like a kid in a candy store! One thing I love about Lori's products is that they are very versatile.  She makes lots of different shaped masks & borders, and you can change the size and add your own patterned papers to them and wha-la- you've made something totally unique.  Thank you Lori, and all the talented people at Jessica Sprague~ I love being part of your Creative Team.
